Youki Hirakawa (Nagoya, 1983). Lives and works in Berlin, Germany and Toyota, Japan. Hirakawa mainly works with video, photography and installation, using a method inspired by Natural Science, Archaeology, Alchemy and Cinema. His main interest of artistic practice is investigation and observation of a time which belongs to a certain place or certain object. He tries to draw a map of un-unified time which is hidden behind the time measurement technology, such as elaborate clock which could calculate without any millisecond disorder, and a world standardized calendar. 

Current solo exhibitions are Into a Horizon (2015, White Rainbow, London), Close Your Eyes (2015, Kunstlerhaus Bethanien, Berlin) , Same Places, Different Phases -Energy, Matter and Time (2015, Kunstkraftwerk, Leipzig), Event Horizon (2014, Standing Pine, Nagoya) and Until You Fall into a Deep Sleep (2013, Minokamo City Museum). Some group shows are Sapporo International Art Festival 2014, Aichi Triennial 2013 and Stranger (2013, National Taiwan Museum of Fine Arts). He also has participated in several artist in residency programs in Germany, such as Akademie Schloss Solitude (2011-12) and Kunstlerhaus Bethanien(2014-15).
